Working at home and making money from an internet business is a wonderful way to make an excellent living, but you will also want to make sure you stay connected with other people. Attending live events is one way, but they are few and far between. I travel to these types of events every two months or so, and find that this is simply not enough time with people for me to stay stimulated.
The answer is to connect with others in your community. These people do not have to be others who also work at home. They may be people who are active in the community in various ways. I spent a few months working alone from home and then began to realize that I had isolated myself from human interaction. I found a way to have the best of both worlds while still building my online business.
In the summer of 2006 I searched on the internet for service organizations in my city.
The one that seemed most interesting to me was the Rotary Club. I attended a lunch meeting the following week, and was amazed to see the mayor of my city, my dentist, my veterinarian, as well as some other people I was acquainted with. I was nervous to be among these people, but they made me feel right at home.Within a few months I was a Rotarian. This was the perfect outlet for me. We met once a week and I was able to join in with their charitable activities within my community. They really didn't understand what I was doing online, but they listened as I explained and shared what it meant to have an online business. Soon they asked me to do publicity and marketing for the Club, and this gave me an opportunity to practice what I was learning online.
Building my online empire allows me to be active in my city while also working from home.
