The Negative Impact of Foreclosures For Sale

There are many negative effects of foreclosures for sale and they affect many different people in different ways. These include the banks, nearby homeowners, and even the neighborhood.

Foreclosures for sale affect the entire community in many ways and they can bring down the entire value of a neighborhood in many ways. The problem with a foreclosure is that banks do not have the funds for the upkeep of a house and the landscaping and other needs. They don't watch the house which may even have drawn in transients living inside of the home while it is vacant. It is common for teenagers to use a vacant foreclosure as a place to sneak into to party also. The community suffers when transients and other things are in the area. Crime rates go up and other problems occur.

The banks suffer with foreclosures for sale because it looks bad on their books.

When they give out a home loan to a borrower that fails to pay on the note they look like they made a bad decision, which is true. The bank then owns a home and they have to figure out the most low cost method of selling the home and getting the money back that they owned. Banks are not in real estate they are into money. When banks have a lot of homes on their books they are less likely to give out more home loans to borrowers. They will tighten up their standards for a home loan or even put a freeze on approvals altogether.

Nearby homeowners also suffer when there are many foreclosures for sale in a neighborhood. People who may be trying to sell their home may be forced to drop the price of their home. This is because foreclosures sell far below market value so when an average is done on the market then the market value of the homes actually go down. Homeowners often suffer by an inability to sell their home or a loss of equity and revenue in the sale of their home.

There are many people that suffer with foreclosures for sale in a neighborhood. Foreclosures are bad because they are vacant homes sitting that attract transients or homeless people, teenagers, and the wrong people. They cause the value of the neighborhood to lower because no one is maintaining the upkeep on the home and it looks very unattractive sitting without inhabitants.
